The DENSEI USA bar code products fall into three product groups. The groups include hand held scanners, machine mount scanners, and accessories. The product matrix provides some information on the various products and the product data sheets provide considerably more detail.

The following brief descriptions are intended to help put the products in perspective and to show how they compliment each other within the product line:

• ErgoScan Series: These ergonomically designed scanners are available with four interfaces and three sizes. The ES5140/5440/5540 are the most economical scanners offered by DENSEI USA, while still providing high quality, reliability, and performance. Their imager uses a 2048 element CCD that, like all linear CCD's, is electronically similar to a one-line TV camera. The scanners digitally image the bar code and then decode the data. Decoded data is then transmitted in either RS-232, wand emulation, or PC keyboard wedge (including notebook PC compatibility) formats. The output format is selected by a bar code menu including the necessary parameters to meet virtually any interface requirement.

  An important feature of these scanners is their low power consumption. The ES5140 only requires 55mA while scanning and less than 1.0mA in the standby mode. This is compared to over 250 mA operating and over 25mA standby current for many other scanning devices.

  The three sizes in this series are 1.9 inch, 2.6 inch and 3.3 inch. Standard cables include a 6.8 foot (2m) straight or coiled (extended length) cords. Numerous connectors are available from stock to meet interface requirements.

  The USB interface is available with the ES5584 scanner, with the versatile 3.3-inch width. The ES5584 has been tested and approved by Microsoft Corporation (Window Hardware Quality Labs WHQL). The ES5584 is fully PC and Mac compatible.

• The BCH5X3X scanners provide interfaces not available in the ErgoScan series scanners, in addition to the interfaces supported by the ErgoScan series. This series also offers very high resolution scanning and the widest viewing width for a CCD scanner. These scanners use a 3,648 element CCD. The BCH5432 scanner has been tested to successfully read bar codes printed with narrow bar widths of less than 3 mils. These scanners are also ergonomically designed and use less power than a laser scanner. The sizes available range from the 2.2 inch BCH543X scanners to the 5.0 inch BCH573X scanners that are the largest CCD scanners available.
  
  
• The BCK5000 wedge scanners are available in the same size as the BCH5X3X scanners. They are available with either the 5 pin or 6 pin mini D connectors to interface with most PC's.

DENSEI USA offers two CCD and two laser machine mount scanners. The CCD machine mount scanners are general-purpose devices and the lasers are specialty products for clean room applications.

• The BCR5242 is a small CCD based scanner with RS-232 output. It has a depth of field of approximately 2.0 inches on standard UPC symbols and is easily mounted. A bar code menu can program the scanner.
  
  
• BCR5342 is our smallest CCD scanner and has a volume of 2.72 cubic inches. The scanner has a similar performance to the BCR5242 and has the same programming options. This scanner is available in either 120 or 500 scans per second. The scanner can be programmed by use of a programming menu or by a computer host.
  
  
• BCR2600 scanner is a laser diode based product and has RS-232, 20mA, and RS-485 interfaces available. This is a specialty product for use in clean rooms. This scanner has been discontinued and has limited availability.
  
  
• BCR2660 scanner is similar in function to the BCR2600, but is smaller in size. A mounting bracket is available that will make the BCR2660 a drop-in replacement for the BCR2600 scanner. Both sealed and unsealed versions are available. Click here for Spec Sheet (PDF).

A full line of holders and stands are available for the hand held scanners to facilitate their use. Several cable options are available for the scanners with an extensive variety of connectors and custom pin outs to meet interface and application requirements.
